Tax Preparation for Miami Residents

YRL Group prepares federal income tax returns for individuals and small business owners across Miami-Dade, including Doral, Hialeah, Coral Gables, and Miami Beach. You work remotely with a CPA, get an upfront quote, and review your return before it is filed. As a virtual CPA practice, we handle everything online.

No state income tax does not mean a simple return

Florida has no personal income tax, so most Miami residents file only a federal return. That makes the federal return the whole job, and it is where self-employment income, rental property, and investment income need to be handled correctly.

The bigger risk is the move itself. If you relocated to Miami from New York, New Jersey, Illinois, or another income-tax state, your old state may still expect a part-year return, and some states audit residency changes closely. We prepare the final return for the state you left and document your Florida residency so it holds up.

What we prepare

  • Individual federal returns (Form 1040)
  • Part-year and multi-state returns for the state you moved from
  • Self-employed, contractor, and gig worker returns (Schedule C)
  • Rental property income
  • Small business returns: partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations
  • Prior-year and amended returns
  • IRS notice response
  • Federal employee and military returns

How it works

  1. Complete the 5-minute application.
  2. Upload your documents through our secure portal.
  3. Your preparer reviews everything and asks about anything unclear.
  4. You review the finished return before it is filed.
  5. We e-file and send you confirmation.

Florida tax return questions

Does Florida have a state income tax?

No. Florida does not tax personal income, so residents file a federal return only. Businesses organized as C corporations may still owe Florida corporate income tax.

I moved to Miami from New York this year. Do I still file in New York?

Yes, for the part of the year you lived there. You file a part-year resident return for New York and report income earned before the move.

Do I need a tax preparer if I only file a federal return?

Not always. If your income is W-2 wages only, software may be enough. A preparer adds the most value when you are self-employed, own rental property, sold investments, or moved states during the year.

Who prepares my return?

A licensed CPA. You work with the same CPA from document review through filing, and you approve the return before anything is submitted.
